Condon really has proven to be a very important move in the context of how the season has unfolded. For whatever reason, he seems to have found a good fit with this team, and seems to have a knack for playing solid hockey in the face of uncertain circumstances and adversity. That's a pretty valuable skill to have as a goaltender playing for a budget small-market team, where defensive limitations and uncertain offensive goal support are the norm.
I guess the ideal scenario would be to protect Anderson and let Condon's impending UFA status deter interest from Las Vegas, then re-sign him shortly after the expansion draft. Considering that Condon was on waivers earlier this year and struggled to find any kind of permanent role, I'm pretty sure he recognizes the opportunity he has in Ottawa to not only play regularly, but potentially inherit the #1 job in a year's time. Or is there a chance that if Condon continues to shine that they re-sign him long-term, and risk losing Anderson in the expansion draft?
Every time the Sens play a game and Karlsson plays the same minutes as Ceci and Phaneuf you know it is positive. An overworked Karlsson is not good in the second half of the season.
Boucher has done a great job in rebuilding Ceci's game and the Ottawa D looks very good.
Nice win, but actually hard to gauge how good the team was since the Pens played probably their worst game in quite sometime. Would be nice to see some more firepower up front brought in at the deadline.
